Do you have a child’s bike that’s no longer used in your shed or garage that you’d be willing to donate for an exciting local project?
I am working with Hastings Borough Council and Hastings & St Leonards Community Bike Workshop to upcycle bikes and get them being used again in schools. Ideally we’d like bikes suitable for ages 4-11 year olds, they’ll be repaired and serviced before being given to local schools. Where a bike is given to an individual child we’ll suggest just a £5 donation, with the proceeds covering the cost of spare parts.
The Hastings & St Leonards Community Bike Workshop volunteers will carry out the repairs to make sure bikes are safe for their new owners. It’s a great opportunity to recycle, support sustainable transport and help kids get active safely in your town!
Your school is taking part in this project and will be receiving bikes to be used by the school and if there are enough individual children will be able to purchase bikes for a suggested donation of £5. If you would like to donate a bike please bring it to school on Tuesday 2nd, Wednesday 3rd or Thursday 4th February and take your bike to the Bike it storage area, in front of the year 6 classroom.
The side gate will be open from 8.30am, to allow access down the path.
Hastings Borough Council are collecting the bikes on Friday 5th February. Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like to get involved with Bike It.
Happy Cycling and Scooting!
