World Book Day 2019
Reading celebrated in style on World Book Day.
The world of make believe was brought to life when pupils and staff dressed as their favourite book characters to celebrate World Book Day.
Harry Potter, Road Dahl characters, David Walliams characters and Disney Princesses were among the colourful characters who turned up to school as part of the celebrations.
The annual World Book Day is a celebration of books, authors, illustrators and reading and aims to ignite imaginations and help children gain a love for reading.
This year children were allowed to come dressed as their favourite story characters or wear their favourite pyjamas ready for their favourite book-they all looked fantastic.
And to top off an AMAZING World Book Day we achieved record-breaking attendance with 99.58%- Well done everyone!
We had lots of exciting World Book Day inspired activities going on throughout the day- these included making book characters out of loo rolls:
We also held a Book Swap Shop where children brought in books from home to swap for a wonderful new one. The children spent the afternoon choosing a new book- it was a huge success. Parents and Carers even had the opportunity to visit the Book Shop to get some grown up books for themselves or some new books for their children. At the end of the day there were no books left over.
Overall everyone had a fantastic day- thank you to everyone for making it such a success!!
