Today we competed in the prestigious Hopkins Cup. 🏆
The girls kicked off first in style. They won 4 of their 6 group games drawing the other 2 and conceded 0 goals, topping their group!
Through to the quarter finals they went and unfortunately failed to score meaning the game was scoreless and went to the dreaded penalties. Despite some amazing saves from our keeper, we lost the shoot out sending us out of the tournament.
The boys arrived next rearing to go and boy did they mean business too. With a very tough group they were undefeated winning their group with 4 wins and 3 draws. A highlight was beating tournament favourites St Leonard’s after being 1-0 down to come back 2-1. These performances meant that the boys, like the girls also topped their group!
The boys played Silverdale in the quarter final and won the shootout with great shooting accuracy scoring all 3.
They then met a very strong West St Leonard’s side (Overall winners) in the semi-final and lost 1-0.
It was a fantastic display from both teams and feel super proud to be a part of Sandown.
Thanks to all the parents who supported from the stands 👏🏻
