🏃♂️🏃♀️ Indoor Athletics Area Finals – What a Day! 🏅🎉
Sandown proudly competed in the Indoor Athletics Area Finals at Ark Alexandra Sports Hall, taking on the top 7 schools from the Hastings and Rother area. Each child competed in 1–4 track and field events, with scores combined for an overall team total.
After weeks of dedicated practice with Mrs Welch, even through the cold and dark winter afternoons ❄️🌙 today was the day it all paid off! Every single child gave absolutely everything, showing determination, teamwork and fantastic sportsmanship. We are so incredibly proud of them all! 💙👏
A truly lovely moment came during the final event of the day, the 4 x 1 lap relays. All the schools gathered to watch and cheer, and the Sandown support squad was definitely the loudest! 📣🎶 Our children even created their own chants to motivate the runners – and it clearly worked… we won both the boys’ and girls’ relays! 🥇🔥 What an amazing way to finish!

🥇 1st – St Leonard’s
🥈 2nd – Sandown
🥉 3rd – St Paul’s
4th – Guestling
5th – Robertsbridge
Joint 6th – Battle & Langton and St Peter & St Paul
We finished in an incredible 2nd place overall, just missing out on a spot at the Sussex finals, but what an achievement! 🌟 We now look ahead to the summer athletics events, where we will continue to grow, improve and aim even higher. ☀️🏃♂️Well done, Team Sandown, you were amazing!
