Friends of Sandown

Friends of Sandown is the name of the Sandown Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

The group allows everyone in the school community to get involved: mums, dads, carers, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. We have support from the teachers and the community.

Together we share the same goal: to make the school experience better for every child.

We arrange fun events for the children and raise funds for the school. With stretched school budgets, our help is even more important.

We appreciate any time you can give to help.

It’s been a busy week for the FOS team with PromFest25.

A big thank you to everyone that helped on Sunday 13^th July to put the marquee up. We had so many helpers, it went up in record time!

PromFest was a lovely celebration for the current Year 6 before heading off to secondary school. They enjoyed fish & chips, ice cream, and lots of dancing! Thank you to all the staff that also attended and helped on the night.

The end of this school year also sees two members off FOS team saying a big Fairwell to Sandown. Kelly Bird and Helen Ballard will be stepping down from their roles as Chair and Treasurer after many years of supporting the school. They have worked alongside FOS to support events like the Colour Run, Annual fireworks, Wrap a Gift, Santa’s Grotto, Sports Days, Cross Country, Teddy Bears Picnic to name a few. They will be very missed! Thank you for everything you have done for the school.

Looking forward to the new school year, we would love everyone to get involved!

We are looking for two parent / carer helpers from each class from September 2025. To get involved, please email kellycorder.fos@gmail.com.

Without the support of the class helpers, some events will not be able to take place. Support can be as little as few hours here and there or helping to set up / clear away at our larger events.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Sandown Fireworks Spectacular - Saturday 15th November

Gates open at 5.30PM / Fireworks at 7.00PM.

Tickets will be on sale in October.

Wrap a Gift 2025

The elves are getting ready for the start of the festive season.

Wrap A Gift is an event that takes place during the school day between 9^th & 11^th December.

All children attending school and nursery get the opportunity to purchase a maximum of two gifts (£3.50 per gift)

The elves help the children to wrap the gift and write a label, so it can be given to a loved one over the festive season.

All children in school and nursery will get the chance to visit Santa in the cabin workshop!

FOS host the year 6 celebration event with a festival style prom!

This year’s event took place on Monday 14^th July 2025 and was another success.

We had vendors providing ice creams, fish & chips, festival face painting and of course the disco.

FOS supplied refreshments at this year’s Sports Days & Hobby Fair.

Our celebration event took place in March 2025. Children were able to pick a plant from a large selection, wrap the plant in brightly coloured tissue paper, place the plant in a gift bag and add a poem.

These plants were then gifted to a loved one.

This event took place after school in the main car park and was a big success!

Our “Wonka” style event took place to celebrate World Book Day.

Children had the opportunity to purchase a chocolate bar and discover if a golden ticket was hidden inside.

We hid over 30 golden tickets and sold over 300 chocolate bars!

The excitement was clear to see! This event will be returning in 2026.
